The Wilderness

For Thanksgiving this year, NJ, the boys and I did something a little different (a lot, actually) this year. We went to Legion State Park just outside of Louisville, MS...The Wilderness, as Neddie Joye calls it. We stayed in a rustic cabin and did nothing. It was wonderful!

To say we did nothing isn't exactly accurate. We hiked around the lake, fished, played Monopoly, Uno and Phase 10, sat in front on the fire (in the wonderful stone fireplace), made smores, roasted hotdogs over a campfire, played on the playground, finished Charlotte's Web (the book, not the movie) and hiked some more.

The boys went on mini-adventures while Neddie Joye and I sat on the screen porch and "watched" them. I played guitar and we sang the Jack Johnson version of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

All in all, it was perfect. The rolling hills covered with hardwoods yielding every imaginable color of fall were the picture of Thanksgiving. And we were thankful.

More Einstein

"Once you can accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something, wearing stripes with plaid comes easy."

"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."
